Time and Space by Shireen Jeejeebhoy is an incredible time travel story with an equally incredible protagonist and a solid storyline. Time was turning forty when her ordinary morning routine was shattered — she was abducted by three university students from the future. They pull her into a glowing cube and deliver her to their technologically advanced world, where women are stripped of autonomy and forced into cosmetic perfection. Their professor, furious at the boys’ reckless interference, orders them to abandon her in “The Nasty Time.” That particular period is the year 2411, a bleak era empty of equality, freedom, and human connection. Stranded, Time finds herself with only bits of guidance from an unexpected ally and must decide whether she can summon the knowledge and courage needed to survive, and possibly reclaim her own destiny.
Author Shireen Jeejeebhoy did a fantastic job of creating an incredible story about the protagonist, Time, and her journey of survival! It was refreshing and entertaining. A true adventure story with a relatable protagonist, the plot features a fast-paced narrative, intense action, and brilliant characters that had me hooked on the novel. Time is a very relatable character. She is not a chosen hero but an ordinary person thrust into an extraordinary situation, and she thrives in it. The world-building is smooth. The author creates a chillingly realistic future where societal progress has regressed. There is not a single dull moment in the story, and each new chapter adds to the excitement for readers. Time and Space is a bold, entertaining, and character-driven story that sci-fi and time travel fans will enjoy!”
