A few times a finalist, but on 4 October 2025, I won The Word Award for The Soul’s Awakening!

The Word Guild presents. The Word Awards Winner

General Market Fiction

Winner: Shireen Jeejeebhoy: “The Soul’s Awakening

The Word Guild ran the awards virtually on YouTube. They had four presenters, all authors, who announced category winners in turn. Mine was towards the end. Of course, I reminded myself at the quarter of the hour to tune in. I noticed the time at 10 minutes after it finished! Argh!!

When I found my category announcement in the video and heard the presenter Sara Davison read out the opening words of my novel The Soul’s Awakening, I screamed and danced. Well! If anything told me my brain keeps on healing, that was it! At best, since my brain injury, I’ve reacted with a smile to astounding news. Dancing and laughing immediately and spontaneously, was fun! The things you miss when brain injury dampens your affect, eh? And doctors and others think we should be okey-dokey with that because it’s sooooo inspirational to live with deficits instead of them learning how to restore affect!

But I digress.

Click on the screenshot of the list below to see the full media release PDF. The best news is: I think it sparked a couple of people to buy it on Amazon. Winning an award may sell books!

Why not buy yourself a copy — ebook, paperback, or audiobook — and see why it’s a winner!

I now need to update my page on The Soul’s Awakening. I received the graphic for announcing I won, but I don’t know if they will email a badge I can put on the cover or not. I guess, I’ll have to wait and see.
