The Worst of Times: A Poem

Robert Lee Brewer of Writer’s Digest has run a poem a day event during the month of April. I participated in it — and posted my poems here — eons ago. One poem so captivated my Pastor, he asked Old Testament scholars to comment on the thoughts behind it. Being scholars and me being not, they weren’t as impressed. But I’m used to the stain of no letters behind my name. What mattered was what my Pastor thought.

I haven’t participated in years due to lack of energy. If I had the energy I was born with…but there one should not go.

Robert joined Bluesky and is now posting his prompt links there. On a whim, as I was sitting in the sun, I thought why not try one. On Bluesky. I copy it here.

The Worst of Times

The world is terrible
I said
Yup
She said
As she bent her head
To clean
The gunk
From the halls
Of the elected ones.

#PoemADay

I have no idea if I’ll be able to write a poem a day with my low energy levels and novels to finish. But I thought maybe on Bluesky it’s doable for a few.
