I’ve been thinking for awhile about podcasting Lifeliner: The Judy Taylor Story. Way, way back when I first envisioned this book, I had planned on creating an audiobook version. Well, podcasting isn’t exactly the same as it’s not all one book on one tape, but once all the chapters are posted and by using podcasting software, one can listen to the entire book at once. However, most don’t have that kind of time, and it’s easier to listen to a book one chapter at a time. So I’m podcasting Lifeliner one chapter at a time.
I’ve recorded all my readings of each chapter, chosen the intro and exit music, and figured out how to put it all together to make one mp3 file for each chapter. Now comes the hard part: publishing.
They make it sound so easy when it comes to publishing. Just set up an RSS feed and choose a player, they say. Well, unless I have a blog completely dedicated to podcasts, not so easy to set up an RSS feed. And Steve Jobs in his infinite stubbornness has decreed that iPod Touches, iPhones, and iPads cannot read Flash players and almost every audio player out there uses Flash. Luckily, Yahoo! makes a non-Flash version. I still have that pesky RSS issue to work out though. Once that’s done I can get it up on iTunes, hopefully with all the right keywords and summaries and tags. And then I can start publishing podcasts of Lifeliner, one chapter at a time, one week at a time.
