PAD Challenge: Poem No.7 “Dishes”

Published Categorised as Poetry

Today’s prompt for Writer’s Digest Poetic Asides poem-a-day challenge is Two for Tuesday. On Tuesdays, Robert Brewer offers two prompts, but we don’t have to do both. We can do one or both. First prompt: write a clean poem. Second prompt: write a dirty poem. Guess which one I chose? It would probably help to know I’d just cleared off my kitchen counter of the growing dirty clutter!

“Dishes”

Dishes piled up
On table and counter,
In sink and dishwasher,
Crumb covered and eggwash splotched.

Cups, small and big,
Fancy and plain,
Decorated with coffee and tea and chocolate
Stains.

Glasses, tall and squat,
Handsome and clear,
Painted with greasy finger marks and water
Blotches.

All
Waiting
Waiting
Waiting
To be washed.
