Have you any updated experience with iUniverse. They're doing a second book for my friend, but she's hit some real uncertainties this time.

Thanks, Shireen, for a most interesting site. I looked up Dr. Jeejeebhoy, today, on a whim, as he treated my mother during the late 7o's, early 80's for a good five years. She, too, was completely without her bowel during that time. I became her home nurse, TPN, support person. Please convey my sincere, ongoing appreciation and regards to Dr. Jeejeebhoy, whom I shall never forget.

Sincerely,

Jill Conroy

I am the eldest daughter of Marjorie Ste. Marie, who was interviewed for your book. She grew up with Judy and Joyce after her mother died in 1939. Because my father was in the Canadian Forces, we moved around alot and did not have the opportunity to know our aunts, uncles and cousins very well. We did see more of them when we were much younger children and my mother told us any details she had about Judy's illness throughout the years. I have been visiting my parents this week as my mother is recovering from a stroke she had about 3 weeks ago. While visiting, she showed me your book. I read it in two days and found it very fascinating. I had never known all the details of what Aunty Judy and her family went through. Thank you so much for telling the story of your father's care for her and the strength and courage she displayed in such a compelling and interesting way!

Congratulations on getting the book published. One of the contractors that was at the fundraising in '99 informed me of the release of your book last year.

Congratulations also on the settlement of your lawsuit. The Aviva lawyers advised me to give up my rights under the Family Act. I only figured out after it was too late that they were trying to mitigate their own exposure so I hope you make good use of the proceeds.

I also planned to get a letter to you immediately following discoveries in Oct '05 to let you know that my mother passed away from mesothelioma on 12 Sep 05, 18 months after the diagnosis. Your legal counsel refused to accept the hand-delivered letter on your behalf so I chose to let it go back then.

Have fun listening to the birds bellowing. Please give my regards to your entire family. I hope you're doing well.

I met Judy when I was 18 yrs. old, in 1970. I had colitis for 7 months and lost more than 50 lbs. during that time. I had been to numerous doctors, none of which helped me or diagnosed my condition. I thought I'd just give up. That was not to be. After seeing a psychiatrist, he referred me to Dr. Jeejeebhoy. I must admit I was reluctant to see yet another Dr. and have yet another sigmoidoscopy, and believe me, 38 years ago, they were not comfortable nor fun. Dr. Jeejeebhoy diagnosed me from my symptoms, then examined me to confirm his diagnosis, which was 100% accurate. I was promptly admitted to Toronto General Hospital and recorded between 19-25 BM'S a day. At that point I was ready to give up. Dr. Jeejeebhoy suggested I visit a lady across the hall from me. That lady was Judy Taylor. When I saw her will to survive, her strength, spirit, and her determination, I was inspired. She saved MY spirit!! Dr. Jeejeebhoy saved my life!! I was ashamed of feeling sorry for myself, after meeting Judy who, at age 34 was not about to give up. So it was..I started the gruelling road to get well. As a tribute to Judy I named my only child, my son, TAYLOR, in her honour. Without that meeting, life may have ended for me, I was so despondent, unhappy and very nearly at the end of my rope. Judy made me face my fears about the illness and encouraged me to move forward with recovery. I continued to see Dr. Jeejeebhoy for many years after my first visit to him, at Toronto General Hospital, and then at St. Michael's Hospital for many years. Dr. Jeejeebhoy treated me for amoebic dysentary when I returned from Morocco, at age 19. He told me that one of the medications he used to cure that ailment greatly improved my colitis condition, and he credited me for helping him find another way to combat this illness. The metronidazole,(flagyl) he prescribed in the hospital was a breakthrough, in his field of expertise. Throughout the years, I continued to see Dr.Jeej, and always asked how Judy Taylor was doing,he kept me informed of her progress. It was such an honour and priveledge to have these two wonderful people enter my life at what I thought was my darkest hour, I remain forever indebted to them, and can never repay what they gave me. Now, at age 55, I continue to occasionally, see a gastroenterologist. Imagine my surprise when I told Dr.R. Petroniene, in Barrie, my home, about Dr. Jeej, she said she was a student of his. My faith in her escalated 100 fold. My croyn's colitis rarely bothers me these days as I have learned to live quite well with it, and cannot remember the last flare up I've had, I know it's been
years. Believe me when I say that both these people impacted my life greatly, and without them, I would not likely have lived. Thank you seems like such a small word for such a large influence on my life and future. I'm at a loss for more significant words to convey exactly how I feel.

Well hi there
I just got to surfing around your AuthorNation page and found your link to here. How fun. You just get funner ( if no one has used that invented word- then I will take credit here and now to describe me laughing at how fun you are. Anyway, I need to read your Bio and learn more. I remember reading somewhere about people existing on carrot juice when they couldnt hold anything else down. but to not have any intestines--wow!

All my best to you and more later,
Miles :)

Shireen

I have just finished reading ”Lineliner” I found it facinating. I did not want to put it down. Although I was familiar with the premise, I had no idea the type of determination and bravery that Judy displayed. Your tribute to both Judy and Dr. Jeej is wonderful. I know he and your mother are very proud of you.
I hope to make it to the launch.
