Claim Lifeliner at Mini Book Expo 2008

Did you miss Book Expo Canada? Did you even know there was such a thing? Have no fear, you can still get your book fix through Mini Book Expo. And, even better, if you or someone you know would like to write a few words about Lifeliner, you can claim it, read it, and get your thoughts on it up on the Mini Book Expo website.

Mini Book Expo is the work of Alexandra Clark, the editor and publisher of CheapEats Restaurant Guides – CheapEats Toronto and CheapEats Ottawa — as well as a photographer and blogger. This is the third year she’s hosting Mini Book Expo, an online event of literary proportions. The motto of the site is: Claim it – Read it – Blog it.

This year, with help from the publishers, they are giving free books to readers with one caveat – if you claim a book, you must write something about it on your blog, Facebook page, or Indigo Community profile, or send it for posting on the Expo website. It’s pretty simple really, the way the site works: you Claim a book by leaving a comment on the book page (assuming no one else has claimed it); you watch the comments section for confirmation it’s yours; you Get it through Canada Post; you Read it (very important); and then you Review it, and either post your review on your own blog or send it to Clark for posting on the Mini Book Expo site.

It’s a great way to check out new books and new authors. All you have to do is write your thoughts about the books you claim. You may claim only two books at a time, but once you’ve reviewed the two, you can claim two more, and so on and so forth.

When I saw Clark’s post about the Mini Book Expo in the Chapters Indigo Community, I knew I wanted to participate. There aren’t too many self-published authors participating in this Expo — four, to be exact — but there are LOTS of big and small publishers involved. From Random House to Key Porter authors, from Anansi to Thistledown Press writers, there’s sure to be a book or two to interest you.

Please pass on the Expo word to anyone you know and encourage them to claim Lifeliner. I can use all the verbiage on it that I can get! Thanks!!!
